Members of Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary Club and friends visited MIMA the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art and were hosted by the Assistant Curator, Giles Maffet . The visitors were shown a very interesting exhibition by the artist Stephen Willats who examines connections between personal narratives and social conditions. In the exhibition he highlights five local people who are charity workers or involved in voluntary organisations. The second exhibition was about asylum seekers and economic migrants and the terrible conditions they live through which sometimes results in death. The exhibition was provocative and thought provoking. The final exhibition was a more traditional art gallery with many paintings by artists such as L S Lowry , ceramics and sculptures. The visit was completed with a meal in the MIMA café.
