Rotarians and wives out on a walk

The walk attended by Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary Club members and wives started at Nunthorpe station and went out into the countryside and returned back to the station. There was plenty of chat and great exercise. After the walk the group went to Middlesbrough Golf Club, Brass Castle lane for pie and peas.

Rotary Northern Games for people with Disablities.

Last Sunday Rotary Club members  and participants from all over the North East of England were at the Eston Sports Centre in Middlesbrough for the Rotary Northern games for the disabled. There were 230 participants competing in 15 different disciplines including archery, bowls, darts, volleyball, table cricket and outdoor cricket, football , swimming and frisbee. Walter Pattinson , organising committee chairman and member of Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary Club opened the games at 10.00 am  and thanked all the participants and helpers for attending. The day was a great example of people having fun and wanting to win. The games finished at 4.00 pm with the prize giving ceremony. A great day was had by all the contestants and helpers.

Members had a great evening enjoying the beer and visit around the Stockton on Tees brewery, “The Three Brothers Brewing Company “. Many different craft ales are brewed and the tour showed the process from grains to glass. Some strong brews were sampled by the club members and the buffet was excellent. Flavours included lemon and lime and chocolate The family run business is increasing capacity with extra fermenters and conditioning tanks.

New President for Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary Club

Joe Guerin has handed over to the new President, David Jackson. David thanked Joe and the outgoing team for an excellent year and outlined the plans for his year 2017/18 which included a variety of guest speakers, visits to businesses, charity events and many other entertaining evenings. Membership growth will be a key objective particularly after the previous year increase of 6 new members including the club’s first lady member.

Julie Connaughton became the first lady member of Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary Club on Tuesday evening. Julie has had a varied career with recent positions including regional marketing consultant with Jaguar Land Rover and most recently the founder and editor of Gossip magazine which concentrates on fashion, lifestyle and motors. Joe Guerin , President of Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary Club welcomed Julie said that Julie brings significant expertise to the club which will help develop our capabilities and help membership growth.
